Head Boys and House Captains

2019’s Head Boy is Daniel Eykelhof and the Deputy Head is Suhail Rahaman.

The Grade 7 boys vote for who they think best represents the school and, as it is voted for by them, it is a true reflection of their character. This is a big honour and the Head Boy traditionally speaks at Valediction at the end of the year.

As soon as your son becomes a pupil at the school he will be assigned a House to which he will belong while in the Prep School. Siblings will automatically go into the same house as their brothers, as will sons of fathers who were at the Prep. By the time the boys reach Grade 7, it is considered a great honour to lead thier house as a House Captain.

There are four houses: Hofmeyr, Robinson, Anderson and Grimmer. (To find out the origins of these names, go to the History page.)

Every boy in Grade 7 is given an opportunity to be a prefect for a selected amount of time. At the end of the third term, the boys of Grade 7 vote for the Senior Prefects. These elected boys will be given a prefect badge and must give an oath to conduct himself in a way befitting a King Edwards boy.
